Wood Burned Key Rings

I'm back with another edition of 'what can I do with the pack of 100 keyring chains I ordered?'

This time, we're reaching for the pyrography tool.

I've made some wood burned dog things in the past that turned out well so I thought I'd give them another go. I bought a pack of little wooden discs which may have been a little bit too small but I'm committed now.

I found that using the pyrography tool worked best for long haired, fluffy dogs as it doesn't give enough precision for short haired dogs. I tried a few but wasn't happy with how they turned out, with the exception of the pug. He came out ok, if a little bug-eyed.

Once I'd drawn the dogs I just needed to drill a little hole in the discs and attach the key ring chain, and now they're good to go.

Emoji Keyrings

 I've shared emoji keyrings with you before, but this lot is different....

 ...because this lot has the poop emoji!

Putting together these keyrings is pretty simple. First I sew on the features, which is the most difficult part as things like eyebrows can be quite fiddly. I attached a ring of wire shaped to fit in the yellow felt circles to the keyring chain. I do this because I'm paranoid that the stitching attaching the keyring chain to the felt will come undone and the chain will fall off, but with the wire the chain would stay attached. The last part is sewing the two yellow felt circles together with a little bit of polyester stuffing inside.

 I had a good production line going on when I made these, and I've kept the little paper patterns I made for the all the features so I can churn out even more. Which emoji do you think should be next?

Emoji Keyring

Remember the heart eyes emoji keyring I made? Well I always planned to make more and I finally got round to doing it.

I made them the same way as my first one, only this time I sewed around the felt features, not just glued them on.

This is one of my most used emojis. What's yours?

I now need to get more yellow felt so I can make more. Or I could start using my brown felt cos I love those monkeys...and the poop emoji.

Heart Eyes Emoji Key Ring

I was a little bit late to the Whatsapp game as I only got it last summer, but since then I have been all about the emojis. So when I wanted a quick felt project to do I knew just what to make.

I wanted to start with a simple design so I went with the heart eyes emoji as it only has 3 additional elements; two hearts and a mouth. I cut these out of felt and stuck them to a yellow circle using UHU glue.

 Between two circles of yellow felt I put a wire ring which had the keyring attached. I stitched the two circles together and just before I completely closed them up I filled the felt with stuffing.

I think the keyring is really cute and I love how quick it was to make, it only took an evening.
I can't wait to make more of different emojis. Smiley poop emoji keyring anyone? Which emoji is your favourite?

My friend had the idea for me to make a box to display my felt keyring donuts in. So I did!
