Character Gift Tags

I felt like adding some personality to my gift wrapping so I decided to make these fun character gift tags. All I needed was some coloured paper/card and a glue stick.

To make the snowman I cut out a gift tag shape from white card. I cut two rough circles for the eyes out of black paper and five smaller circles for the mouth. I glued everything in place and added an orange triangle for the classic carrot nose.

For the Santa belt I cut a gift tag shape out of red card. I cut a strip of white paper with torn edges for the fur trim, which I stuck down first. I then added a strip of black paper for the belt, with a yellow square and black square on top for the buckle.

For the Rudolph tag I cut two gift tag shapes, one brown and one white, and sandwiched the paper antlers between them. I cut a large tan oval for the mouth and added Rudolph's signature red nose on top. I then used black and white card for the other facial features.

Once I'd added some matching string through a hole in the top of the tags they were done.

There were really simple to make and I'm already thinking what other characters I could create in gift tag form.

Photo Gift Tags

I've seen the idea of printing on to stuff that isn't printer paper around so I decided to use that idea for the gift tags on my sisters' Christmas presents.

The key to printing on to stuff that isn't printer paper is to stick the stuff onto printer paper using double sided sticky tape. You also need to use a simple ink jet printer because you do not want random bits getting all up in your fancy laser printer.

The other key to this is to print the images on the printer paper first, then stick the gift tags over the images so they print in the right place when you send the paper through again with tags attached.

I printed a couple at a time just to make sure it would work, because I didn't fancy trying to fish out 5 crumpled tags from the printer if it went wrong. But fishing 2 out at a time is fine!

I think these are really fun and a great way to use photos from throughout the year.

Gift Tags

On my last trip to the Scrap Store I picked up some A4 sheets that were white card on one side and thin fabric on the other. My Mum had the idea to make some gift tags out of the material so she put together a tree template and cut them out, then I decorated them.

These were really simple to make. You just need some glue - I used UHU - and lots of shiny things.
The part that took the longest was picking out which sequins I wanted to use.

As well as the green fabric paper I also got some blue and pink which made lovely bauble shaped gift tags.
