Fabric covered bottle cap

Behold; the fabric covered bottle top.

It's a like a fabric covered button but a lot cheaper to make. Cheaper as in free, as long as you have bottle caps and fabric that is.

I saw the idea on Sew Take A Hike.

The fabric covered bottle caps there were used to make a trivet, but I have no need for a trivet in my life.

So I added one to a yo-yo which could easily become a brooch or a hair clip.

And I put some on a hair band.

(Fun fact; two of the fabrics used in this post came from the bottom of dresses that I had shortened.)

Any other ideas for what I can use these fabric covered bottle caps for? Because they're so easy to make.

Bottle Top Valentine

Remember the bottle top christmas tree? Here's a version for Valentines Day.

A door hanger heart.

You'll need 8 red milk bottle tops. I got mine from my friendly Starbucks barista.

Then fill them with PVA glue and anything pretty you have on hand. I went for glitter, buttons, beads, sequins, pipe cleaner, lace, netting and felt.

Cut out a heart from card and paint it white. Stick the bottle tops on it in a heart formation.

Put a hole in the top and thread ribbon through, or you could use the heart for the front of a Valentines Day Card.

Isn't it annoying how bottle tops can't be recycled like the rest of the plastics?

It just means we'll have to craft with them.

Making a bottle top Christmas tree uses 6 green milk bottle tops.

Cover the inside with PVA glue and fill them with whatever you have. The shinyer the better.

I used buttons, gems, sequins, glitter, tinsel pipe cleaner.

To make a Christmas card just stick the bottle tops on a folded piece of card and put a star at the top and something at the bottom for the base of the tree.

Kids might also like making a Christmas tree decoration by sticking the bottle tops to a thick piece of card with a hole in the top to thread string through.

Does anyone else find it annoying how you can recycle bottles but not bottle tops? For some reason, like toilet rolls, we don't throw out our bottle tops in my student house. So this it what I've done with them:
