This Week I...

...took my monthly trip to the Scrap Store with my Mum.
This is what I came away with, which includes rubber stamps, fabric paint, egg boxes (for school), and lots of bits of fabric. I'm really excited about that map print.

Our day of good finds continued with a trip to a local jumble sale. I spotted this wooden rack which is just what I'd been thinking of getting for displaying my smaller paintings at craft fairs. The woman at the jumble sold it to me for 30p! What a bargain!
I'm curious; do other countries have jumble sales? I'm talking people drop off unwanted items the morning of the sale, a team of volunteers sort through it and then people turn up to buy the stuff for ridiculously low prices. The sales round here are usually laid out with tables in the middle with clothes on, then other tables round the edge of the room (church hall, scout hut etc) with everything else on; books, games, toys, kitchen wares and all the other weird wonderfully random things people want to get rid of. When you spy something you want you ask a volunteer how much and they usually look at it and say something like, 'um...50p?' Sold!

At school this week I made cress heads with Class 1. This was my example and since there were some cress seeds leftover I planted some in my yoghurt pot. There's damp cotton wool inside and some of the seeds have already started to shoot!

What did you get up to this week?

Bargain time #4

At the weekend I went to my village fete which included a car boot sale.
I scored this skirt for £1.

£1! It's from Miss Selfridge and it still has the tag in.
And it had pockets. I'm very excited about the pockets.
Bargain indeed.

I also got these two bags for 50p each. Similar to this one I got last year which was probably from the same lady.
One has a whole load of beads in it, including a pretty glass pendant with daisies on it. The other bag has a lot of bangles in it and some necklaces. All good stuff.
With some my new beads I fancied up my Mum's sun hat for her.
I just threaded the beads in a sort of pattern onto some brown ribbon.
She's been showing it off already.

Have you got any great bargains recently?

Bargain time #3

I'm back home for the Easter holidays and on Saturday I hit up a jumble sale with my Mum and scored this lot.

This bunch of fabric for 40p.
40p!
The mint green polka dot and that funky brown stuff are my favourites.
I'm thinking bows. Lots and lots of bows.

I also got Buckaroo for 20p to join my 99p Kerplunk from Oxfam. Oh yes.

In other news I finally updated my Etsy shop.
Check it out!

Bargain time #2

At the weekend I went to a car boot in my village and scored this bag of beads for £1. Bargain!
Lets delve inside...

These pretty flower pieces which have holes so they can be strung together.

This awesome pendant, it's a got a couple of gems missing, but I'm sure I can replace them.

A few religious pieces

A handful of yellowy gems.

Some girly pendants.

And a whole lot of little beads! It was at this point I realised tipping the bag out on my carpet perhaps wasn't the best idea. It took forever to pick them all up again.

Keep an eye out to see what I create with these goodies.
