Miniature Tardis Decoration

After making a few miniature wooden houses I decided to try making some iconic buildings. Starting with...the Tardis!

I made the Tardis from a base of balsa wood with the details built up with cardboard.
I drew out the design first and worked out the different layers, which I then cut out of card and stuck together using PVA glue.

I painted the whole thing using several layers of acrylic paint.

I cheated a little bit with the signs and just printed them off the computer. My tiny writing skills aren't that good!

For the light on the top I used a little bead with a flat piece of card on top.

River Song's Diary

My sister loves Doctor Who so I made her a 'River Song's Diary' for Christmas.
I saw lots of peoples attempts on the internet, but this is how I decided to make mine.

I started by removing the covers of an A5 sketchbook, bought from The Works.
I cut out the Tardis squares from card and glued them to the covers.

I covered the card with sticky-back blue material and used a hair grip to push it in the grooves and bring out the detail.

I used a craft knife to uncover the holes in the covers and then I put them back on the wire spiral to reassemble the book.
Some people then distress their book to match the original one from the show, but I figure that'll happen over time.

My sister loved it, and she assumed I'd bought it, she thought it was that good.

Doctor Who?

Remember this post?
Well the Doctor Who loving strikes again. Only this time it was all my Mum and sister's doing.
Not that my Mum loves Doctor Who. It's just she's the only one of us who knows how to crochet.

It's a crocheted plush David Tennant!!!

The pattern is from the Pixelated Mushroom who has loads of Who related patterns and other geekery.
Here he is preparing to fight aliens....on the washing line....
Oh hi!

*Imagine the Doctor theme tune as the title of this post*

If anyone is keeping tabs on what tv shows I watch, you can add Doctor Who to the list.
Well, you can pencil it in.

Anyway, I recently spied this Tardis console in a charity shop and bought it for my sister.

It's supposed to be part of a whole set that has all the other interior Tardis elements.
But for £3.99 who's complaining.
And did I mention that it lights up and makes noises. It totally does.

So my sister and I decided to make the rest instead.
There's a lot more that we could add but..well...we kinda gave up.
And it's the Tardis for the 10th Doctor. Cos they're all a bit different.

I also got this tiny Tennant at the charity shop for only 99p.

And here he is chillaxing on the rails, pondering the universe no doubt.

Here's a silly little stop motion of the Doctor in action.

Do you watch the show?
Who's your favourite Doctor?
