Cupcake for One

Last week my sister spent a long time helping me with my CV and things so to say thank you I made her this cupcake!

You know that bit in Bridesmaids where Kristen Wiig makes and decorates a single cupcake.
Well I wanted to do that, so I googled single cupcake recipes and came across a recipe for a single funfetti cupcake on Chocolate Covered Katie
There's loads of single serving cupcakes and other desserts on there. Well worth checking out.

Everything is measured in tablespoons and the key is using oil instead of egg, because it doesn't make sense to just use a bit of any egg.
When I was mixing the ingredients it was looking a bit doughy so I added more milk so get a better batter consistency.

Then I tried making it again, following the recipe exactly and I think the cupcakes came out pretty much the same. This just meant that I could have one as well as my sister.

Putting sprinkles in a cupcake is awesome.

The taste is different to a regular cupcake, but still delicious.
I'm excited to try out some of the other recipes on the website.

Colour Me Magnets

I have a new thing that I made and am really excited about!

Magnets that you colour in!
I love colouring in!

I've used the same magnetic paper that I made the gangsta words with, and it turns out felt tip pens draw splendidly on it.

So far I have two sets; cupcakes and teacups.
If they take off then I'll make more. I'm thinking dinosaurs...

I'm really proud of the packaging too.
I now want to print on everything other than plain white copy paper.

These magnets are of course available from my Etsy shop; cupcakes and teacups.

Cake!

The other day (ok, the other month, but I never got round to posting it) my sister and I decorated these cupcakes.

I decorated these ones with pink strawberry flavoured icing and a whole strawberry on top. Does it matter that you can't fit it all in your mouth at once? No!

My sister decorated these with regular butter cream icing, marshmallows and edible glitter which is the best thing ever. She also hid a bit of marshmallow inside the actual cake. Genius.

Noment!

And here they are good to go.
These containers were actually the packaging from some very delicious chocolate cakes but they double up perfectly as cupcake transporters.

Burger Cupcake!

I've had this photo saved on my computer forever and I finally got round to making my own Burger Cupcakes last week.

I only just found the source of the image (here) and discovered there was actually a how-to, but I just made it up as I went along with mine.

The 'bun' is a regular cupcake and the 'burger' is a chocolate brownie.
Then I used icing tubes for the cheese, ketchup and lettuce.

Om and nom!

Cupcake hat!

I found this photo here, and though 'why should Blythes have all the fun?'

So my Mum kindly whipped up a people-sized version of the cupcake hat. I added the cherry (a red pom-pom) and the sprinkles (strands of wool).
